As a doctor, I’ve always been interested in the history of medicine. In college, at Indiana University, I obtained a minor in the history and philosophy of science. One of the great artists and illustrators of the human body was the Italian artist Vesalius. His original book from 1543 was the first layer by layer drawings of the human body with strict attention to human anatomy. While traveling in Italy, I came across this German page from 1660. This version, not the original text from 1543, is still very, very old and was magnificent in person. One day, I hope to have one of the pages from the original 1543 printing.
