1951 Bowman Baseball Cards

Legendary Hall of Famer

Whitey Ford

Yankees Great

1951 Bowman #1, Whitey Ford RC
On October 7, 1950, at Yankee Stadium, rookie pitcher Whitey Ford took the mound for the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the World Series. For a 21-year-old, Ford was unflappable and held the Philadelphia Phillies to just one unearned run over 8 2/3 innings. His stellar performance sealed the Yankees’ 5–2 victory and completed their sweep, launching Ford’s legendary Hall of Fame career.
Whitey Ford's season was so impressive that it earned him Card #1 in the 1951 Bowman Baseball Card set - even though he did not play a single game in 1951 due to his service in the U.S. Army. The back of this card may be the best ever on any baseball card.
