Sitting Bull portrait - acrylic on canvas orignal painting
The style of painting is known as pointillism. Up close, a number of a small acrylic paint dots that becomes a much more visible image as you move further away. This is a very old technique that, in current form, brings a postmodern flare to his art. The colors make the portrait of Chief Sitting Bull jump out of the painting. The acrylic paint gives it some texture and depth. This young Artist, who himself is Native American painted this for me on commission. His work is featured throughout the southwest and has been shown museums around the country. I first discovered his work at the Eiteljorg museum in Indianapolis, Indiana.
