Pawtucket Red Sox, AAA affiliate

The Pawtucket Red Sox (often called the PawSox) were the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. They played at McCoy Stadium from 1970 until 2020.

  • The team was originally founded in 1970.

  • They were best known for hosting the Longest Game in Professional Baseball History (33 innings against the Rochester Red Wings in 1981).

  • Many future Red Sox stars came through Pawtucket, including Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Mo Vaughn, Dustin Pedroia, and Mookie Betts.

  • In 2018, the team announced it would relocate to Worcester, Massachusetts.

  • Starting in 2021, they became the Worcester Red Sox (WooSox), playing at Polar Park.
