That is the question. Is grading becoming too much lately? Between upcharging fees for higher grades and fees for expedited grading, PSA is shipping around pieces of plastic and cardboard to hundreds of thousands of people, only for the customer to have an expensive liability at the end of the day.
The only way to make money from these liabilities is to pay more fees from the eBay and auction services available. My thought is that eventually these vault companies will end up paying people to hold their pieces. Once they have the pieces they will be able to display them digitally and physically. That way you would be able to track how many views each piece gets and pay the owner some sort of percentage or whatever is agreed upon. Next would be some sort of museum system where people would donate their pieces where they would be able to have their artifacts viewed by those who appreciate them, and I’m sure their would be some sort of tax benefit based on the value of the piece. That’s what tends to happen with art as well.
Very tired of hearing how much fraud is happening and how much money is being wasted from fellow people in the hobby. Time for change 🖼
