PSA Value grading came back last week at $39.99 a card. TAG brought its Value tier back at $29.95. BGS Express is $79.95.

The doors are open. The question is whether your cards are actually worth walking through them.

PSA's own backlog tracker says 7.2 million units are still in line, down from a peak of 12.4 million in July. That is still 2.2 million over the 5 million target PSA set when it paused Value back in June. New Value orders get processed after the orders PSA already has, at 90 to 100 business days. More submissions are coming. More submissions do not mean more gems.

So before anything goes in a box, run the four checks. Light the surface. Check the corners. Check the edges. Measure the centering. What passed as a 10 a few years ago does not pass today, and the standard is closer to 55/45 than 60/40 now. Use a centering tool. Do not guess.

Then do the math at the grade you actually expect, not the 10 you are hoping for. If the card's value at your realistic grade does not beat its raw value by more than the grading fee, shipping both ways, and selling fees, do not submit it. If you are flipping, check the population on GemRate for the exact card and parallel first. Population is not print run. More graded copies mean more supply when yours comes back.

One exception. A cheap card you bought for $5 that could gem to $1,000? That is a risk worth taking. An average card at an $80 grading fee is not the same bet.

And grading is not always about flipping. Some cards you grade because you love them, to keep them protected and on display. That is collecting too.
