Nelson made his debut with the World Champion 1984 Detroit Tigers and hit .433 over nine games. The barrel chested rookie slumped in 1985 dealing with a few injuries along the way. After some more injuries and some off field issues his last Major League action came with a 16 game stint with the 1987 Baltimore Orioles. Nelson Simmons turns 63 today.
