1950 Oakland Oaks (team issue) ⭐ Pacific Coast League (PCL)
This is a minor league team issued card/photo that I love.
For many years the Pacific Coast League was characterized as the "Third Major League".
The PCL was noted for great teams stocked with great players.
The 1950 Oaks were managed by MLB Hall of Famer George "High Pockets" Kelly and features Cookie Lavagetto.
Cookie is best known for his pinch-hit, walkoff double in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 4 of the 1947 World Series. This hit, which was the last of Lavagetto's career, also won the game for the Dodgers, tying the series.
Moreover, this team issued card boasts MLB Pioneers Artie Wilson and Ray Noble.
Artie played in the Negro League for the Birmingham Black Barons, while Ray Noble starred for the NY Cubans. Both played in the "Bigs" for the NY Giants.
