As a thank you for joining this Mantel group and being on the ground level of something special, I wanted to hear directly from you as to what I should give away? Within reason and basketball card related perhaps, but hey I’m all ears! Thank you for being a part of this 🙏

Not to buy to sell, not to flip, not the most recent trendy chase card in the hype machine, but just to collect and keep in your forever PC - Who do you collect?
Just as important, WHY do you collect this player? Is he/she part of your favorite team? Is he/she the hometown superstar? Did you love them as a kid? Did you play ball with them before they blew up big? Does your son or daughter love them?
We know these types of stories get lost in the social media shuffle, and so I want this to be a space where you can share these stories and we can uplift each other and add onto the conversation. And of course, please add pictures of your cards when you can!
So let's start this group off with that question, and I will pin this post to the top so that anyone who enters can answer this if they would like!

All things 🏀 all day every day for all Hoops Heads of all kinds!
Hey, this is Denny from Instagram and YouTube (denny_cards) and I am SO EXCITED to help get a basketball cards centric group going here on Mantel. I know I am in various areas of The Hobby, but my time, energy, interest, and of course collection, always go back to BASKETBALL CARDS.
It is the MOST egalitarian of all sports (equal to soccer), because all you need is a ball and a hoop. You don't need special equipment and accessories and permits to play at any time.
If you have ever played pick up ball, you know that you can have instant chemistry with complete strangers on the court.
That is the BEAUTY and MAGIC of basketball, and that is why I absolutely LOVE this game and always will. ❤
I have been a collector of basketball cards since the early 90's and my favorite player to collect was Michael Jordan (like almost everyone else in the 90's even if you hated the Bulls haha). Back then, social media did not exist and so the entirety of my card community was my neighborhood friends and reading Beckett magazine.
I also collected from 2007 to 2012 when I was a young adult and went after my Florida Gators (Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer), and by extension, Kevin Durant (who is from the DMV area where I currently am from). Back then, social media was not what it is today and the online community for cards were only in blogs and forums, nothing like now, and that is why I am so excited for this group.
Welcome to this basketball group on Mantel and I hope you join and enjoy! Let's build a great community, one shot at a time. 💪
