On one hand, I get that this card had to exist. But on the other, Votto never played for the Blue Jays, so this is an image of something that never existed. We used to call photos like this fake, but now it’s just called altered. As awesome as Joey Votto was, this card makes me feel conflicted.

When if comes to graded modern cards for my personal collection, I like looking at PSA 9 listings. Generally, the difference between a 9 and 10 are negligible (especially since the centering standards for 10s have tightened up), but you can often get a 9 for raw prices. In this case, I was able to pick up this Votto RC refractor for less than the latest raw comps.
