We have slowly been going through my Grandfather's items at his old car shop he owned for years. The family is planning to sell it soon, which really saddens me.
I always dreamed of opening the place myself. Such an incredible location, and history behind it. I was sure to take this photo copy of a photo Grandpa had framed. I know the "giant" as Great Uncle Big Louie - a very mysterious man who is imbedded in Upper Michigan and Michigan history in general. Oddly enough, my Grandfather also held on to Big Louie's family homestead, which we now refer to as the family farm.
Man the questions I have for Grandpa as an adult.. I would love the hear the stories from him, as there is SO much speculation surrounding Big Louie.
Attached is the photo, and the auto shop. It started as a small Shell Gas station.
I haven't been to the farm in a few years. I will make sure to stop up there and get some photos for you.
