“Pistol” Pete Maravich was one of the most prolific guards the NBA has ever seen. Unfortunately, he died at an early age. Not many certified autographs exist that have been authenticated. If you’re unaware of his ability to score, look at his college stat line. Before the three-point shot was invented, he averaged nearly 44 points a game in college. I never got to see him play live. But I’ve seen videos and he was an absolute wizard. I was lucky enough to acquire this PSA/DNA certified autograph card a few years ago. Due to the dark background, the autograph is not as easily seen as some, but still pretty cool. I’d like to add a rookie, tall boy, autograph to my collection at some point… When I can afford it.

It’s hard to find a lot of Pete Maravich autographs, as he passed away in 1988. So sometimes you have to settle for what you can find/afford. This one comes with a nice letter of provenance from his wife, Jackie. I’ve thought about getting a custom card made from this check but as PSA stopped slabbing custom cuts, I need to think about it. Still, a cool item from one of the best. If you ever have any doubts (looking at you, younger generation), look at his college stats.
