On March 28, 1978, the Oakland A's released veteran first baseman and future HOFer Dick Allen, ending his 15-year career.
He played for 5 different MLB teams during his career (Phillies, Cardinals, White Sox, Dodgers, A's).
He was a seven-time All-Star, most notably with the Phillies, and won the 1972 American League MVP with the Chicago White Sox.
