A'ja Wilson is an American professional basketball player for the Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is widely considered one of the greatest players in the WNBA. Wilson was drafted first overall by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2018 WNBA draft. Additional career highlights include being the first player in WNBA history to record 30+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game (August 2025), becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 5,000 career points, and holding the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points. Wilson also holds numerous school records for the University of South Carolina, including all-time leading scorer and shot blocker. Her jersey number 22 has been retired by South Carolina. A statue honoring Wilson's impact stands outside the Colonial Life Arena, where the Gamecocks play.
