ChatGPT-Created Collection Tracking Template
I have a few different spreadsheets that separately track my collection of cards, comics, autographs, and general memorabilia (jerseys, basketballs, magazines, etc), and earlier this week wondered if there was an easy way to combine everything into a single spreadsheet. After noodling over it a bit, I decided to load my collection info into ChatGPT to see what it would come up with.
It was helpful, though it came up with a lot more detail that I probably wouldn't regularly fill out and I made my own modifications to it. That being said, I thought that maybe folks here might be interested in the template that ChatGPT came up with if they've been struggling with how to track their collections.
The spreadsheet linked here is a straightforward way to keep your collection organized and valued in one place. You enter each item on the “Collection Template” sheet - what it is, who signed it, any authentication or grading details, what you paid, and its Low/Mid/High value (the examples in row 2 show how you can fill things out). The “Dashboard” sheet automatically totals everything, breaks it down by sport, and shows how much of your collection is signed vs. unsigned, plus an insurance-ready value. There are asks for a lot of details here, but it is a fairly comprehensive system for tracking, understanding, and sharing the full scope of your collection. And, obviously, you can make whatever changes you'd like that suits your needs.
Hope it's helpful as a reference or starting point!
