Each month, I compile a list of the top-selling non-sports cards on eBay.

In July, six of the top 25 sales came from the iconic 1940 Superman Gum Inc. set—a surprising development given that many upper mid-grade cards are now commanding prices of $2,000 or more.

Although I don't personally collect this set, it's impressive to see such strong demand, especially since only a few sets in the hobby can fetch this kind of premium for solid "commons."
