Meet this delightfully weird little guy: a Yattarō whistle toy — with the year of release and manufacturer currently unknown.

Here’s what is known so far:

• It was packaged with candy 🍬

• It originally came with a necklace cord, so it could be worn around the neck

• Yattarō detaches from the whistle portion. Once detached, it works as a simple acoustic toy — giving parent’s and babysitter’s ears a much-needed break (ask me how I know 🙃)

It’s one of those toys that perfectly captures that late-80s / early-90s design philosophy: cute first, logic optional.
