On September 17, 1953, Ernie Banks becomes a MLB Pioneer as the first black player to appear in a Chicago Cubs’ game. The former Negro League star of the Kansas City Monarchs and future MLB Legend will go on to hit 512 career home runs, as well as winning the MVP award twice during his 19-year Hall of Fame career.
