1964 Topps Stand-Ups #17, Roberto Clemente ⭐ Greatest Humanitarian in Sports
This unique and colorful card was sold by Topps as part of a stand-alone product.
They were marketed specifically for kids, as the images were meant to be punched out and folded so the player would “stand up,” reinforcing that they were toys as much as cards.

There have been various ‘stand-up’ type sets over the past century, where the players can be brought to life, but this set combines vivid colors with some great photography. Last time I checked Brooks still has the best defensive stats at 3B all-time…

This is one of my favorite Roberto Clemente cards.
The 1964 Topps Stand-Ups were issued as a stand alone set of 77 cards (though some players appear twice, creating 55 unique subjects).

They came in five-cent wax packs with 5 cards per pack.

Because they were a separate test-style set and not part of the main 1964 Topps baseball issue, distribution was more limited than the flagship Topps set.
