Those who know my collecting tendencies know it's impossible for me to leave wax unopened. But I have completed both 1988 Fleer and 1989 Topps (a couple times in '89 Topps' case), so these will probably be forever sealed.

Prince Fielder is 41 years old, but hasn’t played since 2016 due to retiring after neck surgery. It’s a shame because he was putting together a nice career. His number 1 most similar player on Baseball Reference is, of course, Mo Vaughn.

Here he is pictured on his 2014 Topps 1989 Chrome, Die Cut Mini and Archives cards with the Rangers and his 2024 Topps 1989 Series 1, Autograph and Mojo Refractor with the Brewers. It’s a bummer there are no 1989 Topps cards of him with the Tigers.

Luis Salazar 2/2 in 13 days in 2023. Gotta love getting a two-fee back (even if the autograph isn’t anything to write home about). That Padres color scheme was the best in the late 80’s!

Gary Varsho 3/3 in 138 days in 2023. Varsho, father of Dalton of the Blue Jays, had a journeyman career playing for 4 teams in 8 years. His son is one of the top defensive Center Fielders in the game (who came up as a catcher). Gotta love the 92 Upper Deck at Wrigley Field.
