You can never really go wrong with an on-card Michael Jordan pre1986 Fleer “rookie” auto. Yes, it’s not his Star #101 rookie. And yes, the auto is a little streaky. But man, this card with red, white, and blue detailing and an early career auto really pops. And you don’t see a ton of them for sale as they start getting locked up in PCs. I’m seeing similar ones in the $18k range at major auction houses.
Back in the day, I was at the national. Maybe 2006-2007? I wanted a LeBron auto. I should have bought a rookie autograph but his 2nd year autographs were so much more affordable. I can’t remember what I paid for this, I think around $150. It’s a nice on-card clean auto and I really liked the Upper Deck Black and Black Diamond cards. It’s on a foil-like stock and the autograph is crisp and clear, albeit on a dark background. I sent this in for dual grading as the card looks like a 9-10 and was hoping for a dual 10/10 but they only graded the auto. Oh well, it’s a PC Card, so not complaining.
