Someday, maybe someday I’ll get to own a Michael Jordan Flair numbered legacy collection card… until then, I’ve been buying random legacy collection cards of well known players. For those that aren’t familiar, Flair was a high end product at the time. Slightly thicker cards with amazing photos and background detailing. The legacy collection cards were one of the first serial numbered cards from the 90s with substantial value. Row 0 being the rarest, followed by row 1, row 2 and finally row 3. The 1996 Kobe Bryant Row 0 legacy rc is massive and any Michael Jordan legacy.
Fleer who created flair, went bankrupt in the 2000s and many of the flair legacy collection cards were back doored. Ie, employees were able to take home and sell uncut sheets and spare cards that were never meant to hit the public market. Some characteristics of the back doored cards? Player name is missing on the back, the serial number is missing __/99, thin text of the serial number due to hand made stamping. PSA will not grade these, and they can be hard to spot and identify on raw cards. There are some early psa slabs that unfortunately graded these cards. There are also ultra rare legacy masterpiece 1/1’s that have been “back doored”. These back-doored cards are considered novelty cards with little value… I’d stay away from them. With the rise of 90s inserts, I could see 90s star players picking up value as they age. Be careful buying these… it’s really tricky and takes a bit of research to buy raw (check out blowout forum for more info).
I have a couple bigger legacy cards vaulted. Few recent raw purchases that I got at a steal.
