It’s been fun and ridiculously affordable to start a pretty cool collection of autographs of Negro League greats. These are my slabbed and authenticated examples. The Judy Johnson is the most recent pick-up -
Here is my 1910 Sweet Caporal Clark Griffith pin. Clark grew up in Normal, IL and played for the Bloomington Reds in 1887 and 1888. He went on to have a Hall of Fame career as a pitcher, manager, and executive.
Very excited to grab a Larry Doby auto! What a player and a true baseball pioneer! I just learned yesterday that he was the first black ballplayer to hit a home run in the World Series! I’ve ended up with a decent collection of his cards and will continue to hunt for more.
I buy into the occasional break through Burl’s Breaks. I hit this 52 Yogi last year - I believe it was actually a free spot for a Cardhound Vintage post I did. The 52 Bowman set is a fav and I have a handful of them.
