I felt it made sense to incorporate one of my favorite collections into my first post here on Mantel: part of my collection of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
This is a very important series of books to me, as I read them over a long period of time as I grew up- and in fact it took Stephen King multiple decades to complete the saga. His writing style changed drastically over the course of the book series, and it is really interesting to read it from start to finish.
The Gunslinger (the first book in the series) was Stephen King‘s earliest work, which he started in 1970, though not his first published work. The Gunslinger was originally written as a serialized batch of stories that eventually were published together as The Gunslinger in 1982- this starting The Dark Tower saga.
The entire series is fascinating to read as each book is totally different in scope and scale, and often style- yet they all tie together in the end forming something magical.
