He played only 4 games in the Bigs, with the White Sox in 1951, but hit over .400 in limited ABs.
Playing days cards of Sam Hairston are scarce and no mainstream playing day's cards of Sam exist from his short MLB year.
This card is from a small Dairy Farm in Charleston WV, where Sam played for the minor league Charleston Senators.

Black History Month celebrations continue, with an on-card auto of a forgotten Negro League star.
I didn't know who Lester Lockett was until I discovered this set and the Negro League stars in it.
He represents the vast middle class of talented Negro League players who were very good, highly skilled, and essential to the leagues’ quality, even if they never became legends.
Lester played for the KC Monarchs, Baltimore Elite Giants and others. The Monarchs, in particular, were the gold standard of Negro League franchises especially in the 1930s when Lester played for them. Simply appearing on their 1930s roster suggests Lockett had real ability, as Kansas City was known for deep, competitive rosters.
His name isn’t widely recognized today for lack of data, not lack of talent -- incomplete box scores. lost team records, and limited press coverage all contribute to the information gap.

On September 8, 1907, future Hall of Famer and Negro League star Walter “Buck” Leonard was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Leonard will made his professional baseball debut in 1933, with the Brooklyn Royal Giants of the Negro Leagues.
He was one of the greatest first basemen in Negro League history and a cornerstone of the Homestead Grays dynasty. He helped lead the Grays to multiple league championships during the 1930s and 1940s, forming a legendary partnership with Josh Gibson.
