My first MLB game was when I moved to St. Louis in 1987. Thankfully, the Cardinals had a great team in the late 80’s. The Wizard of Oz was the fan-favorite and clubhouse leader for the Cardinals. This ball and card were obtained when Ozzie did a signing for a local car dealership and my dad got them signed for me back then. They will be a part of my forever collection.

The wizard… One of the best defensive shortstops ever to play the game. He started his path in major league baseball with the San Diego Padres but is known for his time with the St. Louis Cardinals. His 1979 Topps rookie is difficult to find in mint/gem mint condition. Centering is the biggest issue. I’m happy to have this slightly off-center version autographed. I got this autographed in person in 1987 or 1988 when I lived in St. Louis as a teenager.
