As much as I love efficiency and data/automation, this chart really bothered me. For one, collectibles wasn't on this and maybe because its just different. Breaking is a dopamine for a few segments of collectors/gamblers. But after seeing it earlier today, it came back of mind for me.
Collectibles and what makes its special isn't a quick/efficient process. It's a long intricate and personal process. The post about unearthing a late father's collectibles, or the streams of Pokemon breaks where people watch, engage, and share for 8+ hours captures why its different. The journey and stories are why its valuable and unique to each person, but the process is shared with collectors. The memories and the meaning takes years if not decades to form.
But I can't think of anything or any industry where one collectible, a card, a doll, a picture, or an experience symbolized by a ticket stub can capture the process, the journey so succinctly. And that collectible can connect so many people to a shared experience so efficiently as collectibles. The power of a community or a a place that aggregates people to share is powerful. This is the first place that does it relatively easily.
Please keep sharing your collectibles and the story/meaning. I love it as it helps me remember certain things in my past.
Sorry old guy rambling....
