When I was 11, I spent an entire summer saving up just to buy this skateboard—$161.32 to be exact. By the end of the summer, I wasn’t even into skateboarding anymore. But I kept the board, and it now hangs on my wall as a reminder of what it takes.
I learned a valuable lesson: Money takes time and effort to earn, but spending it is easy. Not every purchase will be the right one, but the work it takes to get there always matters.
Even now, every time I look at that board, I remember—earning something is just as important as owning it.
On June 27th 2016 Tony Hawk set out to land his last 900 ever. If you're a skateboarding fan you know that he was the first man on a skateboard to land a 900 in competition at x games 5, June 27th 1999. The impact on skateboarding that this trick had was massive, fueling a generation of skateboarders, who pushed the limits of what you can do on a skateboard.
Growing up if you were like me you played the Tony Hawk video games, specifically pro skater 1 on Nintendo 64, so iconic, where you could play as Tony Hawk and land the same tricks that he would. The game resonates in my head to this day along with the phenomenal soundtrack that accompanied it.
Now skateboarding has made its way into the card space through a company called ABD Collectibles. Fleer dabbled into the extreme sports space a little bit back in 2000, but you could not pull an autographed Tony Hawk card. ABD collectibles are bringing us skateboarding cards from past and present legends. Guys like Andy Anderson and Yuto Horigome, totally rad dudes.
The initial release of this Tony Hawk card was in a mystery pack format, where there would only be 900 cards released. Each card had a piece of the vert ramp that Tony Hawk accomplished his last 900 on. They were numbered one all the way up to 450. The card itself is extremely beautiful encased well and I was fortunate enough to be able to get one out of 250.
ABD Collectibles has plans to do so much more in the card space for skateboarding. Soon they will be releasing a new marketplace where they will be offering more variety of skateboarding cards for everyone. Go check it out!

I like to go hunting for things at the thrift stores in my area. Went before the new year and stumbled upon a Tony Hawk autographed helmet and a signed vintage Speed Racer poster!
I know the risk of picking these up but the Tony Hawk passed my checks that I use to determine if I should risk it or not.
I will be getting it authenticated before doing anything else with it for sure!
