To follow my last Tatum select rookie post is this one. Rookie. Auto. Jersey. Great card from a mid product - but that keeps it affordable for a lot of people. The green napkin swatch is nice, but doesn’t not hit the same as a multi-colored patch does. I’m trying stick to game worn/patch autos moving forward, but that’s an expensive endeavor!
Select is Prizm’s Little brother. I used to like it more than Prizm from a pure aesthetic standpoint. I liked the in-game photography better than the weird geometric patterns on Prizm. It went downhill with too many parallels and moving to retail, so I really don’t collect much from Select (or Prizm). But I liked the look of this one initially - but have since traded it on to aquire different Tatum cards! This is a beautiful example of a gem mint BGS 9.5 version.
Noir is one of my favorite sets of the “new age”. They remind me so much of Upper Deck Black - the black edges were tough then and they are still super hard to gem now, but they look so good! The Panini team did well with Noir. One of the sets I’m going to miss when they lose their license.
Panini Prizm is the most “common” base rookie that people desire. The silver parallels aren’t super rare, but still aesthetically very nice picking up where Topps started and left off with refractors. The autographed versions take it up a notch - so this Tatum PSA 10 rookie auto fits the bill and checks a lot of boxes while still not breaking the bank! Wishing him health and well being as he recovers (and as Celtics fans recover) this offseason!
As a Celtics fan, I was very excited about both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum with they were drafted. I could never afford a national treasures, true RPA, so I bought myself what I thought was the next best thing. This is the 2017 Panini national treasures Clutch factor RPA of Jayson Tatum. I submitted it to PSA and it received a 10/10 grade. Last time I checked, it was the only PSA 10 auto 10 in the population report. Wishing him all the best as he recovers from his devastating Achilles tendon rupture.
