I've been researching/experimenting with this and one company is courtyard.io. They do drops of graded cards of varying value and its similar to how breakers do "Hit Packs" or "Repacks" where there is a price per pack. There is a ceiling (max card value and a floor, the low card value). These are interesting and seem to be gaining popularity vs breaks because you are:
1) guaranteed a card and in this case graded, which is nice
2) of something you would ideally care about i.e. in the genre you care.
In most of these, they publish the ceiling, floor, the average value to give participants a sense of the risk aversion. In this case the drop price is $100 and the top card is the Japanese Promo Poncho in PSA 10 so probably a $3k card. So 30x your buy in, but the floor is likely 15-20% on the buy in.
Curious to see what others think of these Hit Pack/Repacks in general.
I was interested in this because its all at a vault and I get a NFT version on chain, which presumably will grant other rights or utility use -- this is an area I'm pretty fascinated by as it can be used for on ramps to gaming utility, real world events/content utility, or even to gate access to special breaks.
