Picked up off a new customer today and love the importance of this set. This Hulk Red PMG belongs to 2013 Fleer Retro Marvel and is the first ever set to include PMGs of marvel characters. The market on these cards went insane during COVID but crashing back down over the last couple years.
I believe copies of PMGs from this first of its kind run from 2013 for marvel, will be sought after for some time to come!
I never pull anything. Ever. But I also don’t typically buy wax anymore but I thought this was a fun, cheap rip. First box in years. So back in the day, I never pulled a PMG or credentials or ruby. None of the high end parallels (save for the one 1996-97 Joe Smith Autographics…which was about $90 at the time). This Chris Gotterup is #10/100. It probably worth $5-10. But still fun to be able to pull one, regardless.
This was one of my most expensive card purchases. I’m a collector and don’t really flip cards. But once I got this graded as a PSA 9 and it was jersey number #34/50 - his NBA jersey number, I couldn’t not sell it to make room for other items I’d rather have. The retro PMGs don’t carry as much hobby weight, and I could use the funds to collect other items (game used patch autos and rookie in-person autos) of players for my long-term PC. So it’s one one 3 cards I’ve sold at Goldin. Pretty happy with the timing and the result at the time!
Sharing this first on Mantel before Instagram and YouTube! I was having a rough day in the hobby couple of weeks back and decided to do a personal rip of 2023 Skybox Metal Universe Champions and I pulled this beauty even after pulling a red PMG (tennis player). Because I pulled a red PMG, I thought this might not be a blue PMG, but it was and it was of my childhood sports idol, and I’m guessing yours as well!
This hobby can be such a roller coaster and maybe that’s why I love it!
