Larry Hisle was the Blue Jays batting coach for the 1992 & 1993 World Series titles.
He was a terrific hitter and finished 3rd in MVP voting in 1978. But a torn rotator cuff early in the 1979 season derailed his career and after multiple surgeries, he decided to retire and become a coach.
"People write that I am the best pitcher in baseball and I'm flattered, but it won't be too long before they will be saying that about Jon Matlack. He is getting faster all the time." - Tom Seaver
"I was very intense. I think that showed. I think that's why a lot of pitchers didn't like me. They threw at me a lot. I didn't like them either. That was the kind of player I was." - Ron Santo
