1984 Donruss Joe Carter Rated Rookie. One of my favorite cards of the 80’s. Joe Carter’s walk-off home run is one of the most iconic moments in baseball history. On October 23, 1993, in Game 6 of the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays were trailing the Philadelphia Phillies 6–5 in the bottom of the ninth. With two runners on base, Carter faced closer Mitch Williams. On a 2-2 pitch, Carter launched a three-run homer over the left-field wall, giving the Blue Jays an 8–6 victory and clinching their second straight championship.
It was only the second World Series-ending walk-off home run ever (the first being Bill Mazeroski’s in 1960). Carter’s famous leap around the bases is still one of baseball’s most replayed highlights.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday! Week is almost over!
