1962 Topps #5, Sandy Koufax ⭐ The Left Arm of God
I'm not a huge fan of the 1962 Topps woodgrain design, but for some cards, it works.
This is one card in the 1962 Topps set that looks great with the woodgrain design, IMO.

The A.L. HR race in 1961, between Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle was epic. This card is a snapshot in time that culminated in Maris breaking the single-season HR record with 61 homers in the season's final game.

1962 Topps #486, Jim Gilliam ⭐ MLB Pioneer

I'm not a huge fan of Topps' 1962 design, but I love this card.
IMO, Jim Gilliam, #19, deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
Gilliam played in the Negro Leagues for the Baltimore Elite (pronounced "E-light") Giants from 1948 to 1950, before his phenomenal Dodger career.
Gilliam was a clutch performer who had a magnificent career and was either a player or coach, on ten Dodger pennant winners (seven as a player), and four World Series championships.
Gilliam was also highly regarded throughout the major leagues for his many outstanding personal qualities, including integrity, temperament, and sportsmanship. Junior Gilliam is the only Dodger non-HOF player to have his number retired.

1962 Topps #199, Gaylord Perry ⭐ Cy Young Award
On October 25, 1978, the Padres' Gaylord Perry (21-6, 2.72) won the National League Cy Young Award. This makes Perry the first pitcher to in the Cy Young Award n both leagues as he also won the honor with the Indians in 1972.
