Awesome story I saw that comes from Antiques Roadshow/ABC ⤵️
The Yankees had a bat boy contest in 1963 while little league tryouts were being held. At that time, a girl named Nancy was just 8 years old. She loved baseball and wanted to be involved, but girls were not allowed. She went undercover as a boy named Jimmy, ended up winning the contest and the Yankees went on to name her the honorary bat girl. When Mickey Mantle heard about her story, he wanted to meet her and later on gave her this signed and game-used bat after hitting a home run. The show put a value of $75,000 on the bat today, but Nancy says it’s priceless to her and will never be sold. Pretty cool!
