Willie played so long in MLB that some forget that he started his professional baseball career in the Negro League with the Birmingham Black Barons.
This is the last Topps base card featuring Willie Mays during his playing days.
I think its a superb card and I'm neither a Mets fan, per se, nor a Mays supercollector.
Though he made an appearance in the 1974 Topps set within a "1973 World Series" subset (card #473), the 1973 base card is recognized as his final standard Topps card.
