Alexander Ovechkin has officially broken Wayne Gretzky’s all-time NHL goal-scoring record against the New York Islanders. I had already snagged tickets for the upcoming home game this Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes, thinking there was a real shot at witnessing the record-breaker live. That’s not happening now, but you better believe the energy in that arena is still going to be electric. I’m hoping (and honestly expecting) there’ll be a ceremony to honor what Ovi just accomplished because a milestone this massive deserves nothing less.
