1989 Upper Deck Gary Sheffield "Star Rookie" #13 Gary Sheffield played for eight different teams over his 22-year career, which lasted from 1988 to 2009. He was known as a fearsome hitter and earned a reputation as a clutch performer. In 1992, he won the National League batting title with a .330 average while playing for the San Diego Padres.
He became the 25th player in MLB history to reach the 500-home-run milestone. His 500th home run was also his first as a member of the New York Mets, a unique and historic accomplishment.
