This week is a little hockey in honour of the Bedard Young Guns chase that is about to begin. As an Aussie kid born in 1988,, the Mighty Ducks movies were my introduction both to sports movies as well as this wild sport played on ice. I even remember asking my parents if there was a way to play this game as a kid in country South Australia - there wasn't. Alas, a childhood love grew into an adult obsession, & while the now Anaheim Ducks may not be too great right now - there has been some great times.
In particular, Ryan Getzlaf epitomises both the old school of the Disney ownership + the bold new look (that I like some parts of, hate some other parts) of the post-Disney era. Most importantly, he is a part of our '07 Stanley Cup team as well as an all time great as a captain & one team player in a 21st century world that increasingly finds one team guys as a rarity.
While I certainly plan to add to my Anaheim PC and hope this isn't the most valuable in the collection for years to come, for now it is the piece that I display for my Anaheim fandom & am very proud to show all the same.
