Paco Pomet (born 1970 in Granada, Spain) is a contemporary painter known for his surreal, satirical paintings that mimic old black-and-white photographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He studied fine arts at the University of Granada and later spent time in the U.S. as an artist-in-residence.

Style

Pomet’s work has a few defining characteristics:

• Vintage aesthetic – paintings resemble historical photos or postcards

• Subtle surrealism – strange, impossible, or absurd elements inserted into otherwise realistic scenes

• Deadpan humor – the absurdity is presented calmly, almost documentary-like

• Social commentary – often about power, nationalism, colonialism, masculinity, or modern society

Many critics compare his approach to visual satire traditions associated with artists like René Magritte and Salvador Dalí, though Pomet’s tone is more ironic and political.

One of his most famous images…often called the Banksy of Norway. Dolk has moved to an odd “scratch art” style, which does not appeal to me. His earlier stencil/based work still holds up!

Dolk (pseudonym of Andreas Hamran Færø, also known as Dolk Lundgren) is Norway’s most prominent stencil street artist, born in 1979 in Bergen, where he grew up. Before turning to art, he trained as a mechanic in Bergen and later studied graphic design in Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by the British street artist Banksy, Dolk began creating stencil works in 2003, drawn to the medium’s raw, quick, and impactful style—often in stark black-and-white contrasts that allow for rapid execution on urban surfaces. His pseudonym “Dolk” translates to “dagger” in Norwegian, reflecting the sharp, cutting edge of his satirical commentary.

HUSH’s work is distinctive for how it merges different techniques and cultural aesthetics:

• Mixed techniques: He uses a combination of spray paint, stencils, collage, silkscreen, drawing, tags, and layering.

• Cultural fusion: Eastern (particularly Japanese) imagery—geishas, manga/anime influences, traditional patterns—mixed with Western pop culture and street art elements.

• Focus on femininity: Many works center on female figures (often geisha-like or masked/blindfolded) exploring themes of innocence, sensuality, power, and the juxtaposition of vulnerability and strength.

• Layering & texture: Backgrounds are rich with patterns, tags, geometric or floral motifs, poster-like or mural-like textures, often with many overlapping layers.

Jeremy Geddes is a hyper realistic fine art painter from Australia. He does amazing, detailed, surrealistic work on canvas. I have about 8 of his works, they’re mostly from cosmonaut series. This is timed release but will only cost $190. So I’ll probably get this one, too.
