Just 20 goals short for the Great One's goal scoring record, Ovechkin stopped by the Oilers Hall of Fame to pay tribute to Wayne. He got a hold of Gretzky's game worn gloves and jersey, and showcased them before his game with the Oilers.

Would be really cool to see one of Gretzky's record get beat in my lifetime.

Fun Fact - Ovechkin is a memorabilia collector and even owns a stick given to him by Gretzky when Washington won the Stanley Cup in 2018.

The quality of these cards are unreal. Imagine pulling a Gretzky and McDavid patch auto? I would go crazy. This set looks like it is worth the high price tag.

Came across this story today. Apparently Gretzky and the LA Kings Owner bought a 1909 - 1911 T206 Honus Wagner Card for $451K in 1991. They then sold it to Walmart for $500K in 1995. It was last sold to Ken Kendrick in 2007 for $2.8M, the owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks and known for his $100M card collection.

That's a massive bump in terms of value over two decades. I wonder how much the card would be worth in today's market - Gretzky should have held on for that price!

Found this interesting- Gretzky's stick from the '88 Cup- signed, game-used, matched to the clinching game- is up for auction at Sotheby's and currently sitting at $42K after 64 bids.

Given the Oilers are back in the Cup Finals, haven't won in 30ish years, and this stick was used by the greatest to ever play... is anybody else surprised by the current bid price?

Sotheby's has a Shai Gilgeous Alexander jersey from a relatively meaningless game where he scored 12pts up on their site for $20,000... You mean to tell me a stick Gretzky used when he won a Cup is only worth 2x that?

NBA definitely has more hype and collecting power than hockey, but I'm surprised. What am I missing?
