Flair cards were super premium and expensive when I was a kid. They didn’t even come in “packs”. They came in little individual boxes with cello wrapping. I never pulled a legacy personally, but did pull some good inserts. Happy to have this legacy parallel of one of my favorite players of that era.
The “mini” logoman isn’t the “true” logoman. But it’s the best I can afford of a star. I have a mini logoman of KG, Pierce, Jermaine O’Neal, Even Turner, Giannis, and Portzingas. The poor man’s logoman! Still super cool and happy to have it in my collection!
While this set is in the 2000’s, many still consider it as part of the 90’s insert craze due to the legacy of the E-X 2000 brand and its ever-popular Essential Credentials Future/Now parallels. The cardboard cut outs laying on colored, thick acetate always stands out as groundbreaking, innovative, fun and aesthetically pleasing. I have never pulled a credentials out of a pack. Ever. And boy, I tried! Clearly, boxes now are so far out of my price range that even if you for so lucky as to pull one, you’d have to hit a star to get your money back. And with people CT scanning boxes, probably not a good idea to try! Still, glad I got this one for relatively cheap, compared to today’s prices, about 6 years ago. KG was a hard-nosed trash-talking PF who had inside out moves. Still one of my all-time favorite basketball players. Need to get this one graded as they are very condition sensitive, especially on the surface.
The 1996-97 Skybox Autographics set was ground breaking. One of my favorite cards in the set is the Garnett. Interestingly, the blue signatures are usually more rare. But Garnett flipped it - and the majority are signed in blue and his black signatures are more rare. I don’t like USA/Pro/Gem/KSA off-brand graders too much (what is an 8.7 grade anyways?) but I got it this at a good price many years ago and had it reslabbed by PSA. Any guesses as to what grade it got at PSA?!
I’m a sucker for game worn autos. Especially chunky patches and shoe pieces. I had this one and then “upgraded” to the 1/1 game worn laces card of KG which I loooovvve. So I’ll probably move on from this one eventually. Nice piece of the sole of a game worn shoe, but the textured piece of rubber is too small. I like bigger, more distinctive pieces. Still one of my favorite all-time players for my favorite team…hard to sell! As a true collector, I have a really hard time selling or trading anything. I want to keep them all! Lololol
