I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been falling out of love with OPC Platinum over the years. The shine wore off, the designs got repetitive, and don’t even get me started on the quality control issues.

Then I hit this pull.

Red Retro. On-card auto. Connor McDavid. And I remembered why I used to love ripping Platinum in the first place.

But Upper Deck, seriously, step your quality control up. This is supposed to be a premium collectors product, not a budget release. We’re paying for chromium, refractors, and clean copies.

The 2021-22 set? Horrendously centered. Literally every card looked like it was cut by someone’s first day on the job. And this 2024-25 McDavid auto? Also off-center. I’ve checked comps online and guess what.. every other copy of this card is off-center too.

I’ll never complain about a McDavid on-card auto, but do better. We deserve better.
