Draisaitl, one of my favorite players, just signed a record setting deal in the NHL. It will be at $14M annually for 8 years. Huge deal for the Oilers, as they lock up 1 of the best players in the NHL. McDavid's next deal (which will happen next year) will likely break the record again.
Here is the highest value card for Draisaitl on the market right now (that I can find). Going for about $38K US (Leon Draisaitl 2014-15 Upper Deck Rookie RC Auto 1/1).
I bet a lot of his cards will be worth a bit once his career is finished. Hopefully he can win a championship in the next few years!
McDavid's game worn jersey of the first game he played as a captain is for sale on Meigray for $75K. This game also coincidentally falls on the first day Edmonton's new arena opened in 2016.
A lot memories for that season. The Oilers broke the 11 year drought and went to the playoffs (made it to the second round). I was lucky to catch a few games that season/playoffs and seeing McDavid live was jaw dropping. You kind of wonder how uses his speed and stick handles through defences easily. Not a player like him in the NHL.
The Oilers are down 3-2 right now in the second round and have a big game coming up against the Canucks on Saturday. Hopefully the team can pull through.
