To round out my favorite pictures… Greg Maddux wasn’t a power pitcher, rather he had a very high baseball IQ and absolute dominance and command over his pitches. His accuracy and precision were amazing to watch. He along with John Smoltz and Tom Glavine dominated the National League for a decade. To top it off, he was amazing as a hitter as well. There were years where he had a higher batting average than the batters that he faced. He’s in my all-time top five favorite pictures.

I’ll follow my Nolan Ryan post with my other favorite pitcher from my childhood, rocket Roger Clemens. Unfortunately like other baseball players in the 80s and 90s he’s stuck with a PED stigma attached. Still, he was an unbelievable competitor for the Red Sox, Yankees, and Blue Jays. He could absolutely throw the cover off the ball.
