I love early Star Co. cards with in person autographs. This was graded prior to PSA deciding to grade Star Co. cards. I have the autograph authenticated, but will likely send this back for card grading as well. The colors on this pop. He was called the “human highlight film” - What a cool nickname which captured how graceful and powerful his offensive scoring and dunking ability was.
Add this to my almost Jordan rookie collection. This is still a pre-1986 Fleer rookie. From the Star Co. 1985 set, this is the Star Co. Gatorade Michael Jordan in a fantastic BGS 9 grade. Might cross it to PSA one day, but not in a rush to do it. Love collecting the 1985 Star Co Jordan variations - and they are always easy to trade and sell as the demand remains high. Especially as the 1985 Star #101 gets SO much attention, you can still find these for reasonable prices at times.
You can never really go wrong with an on-card Michael Jordan pre1986 Fleer “rookie” auto. Yes, it’s not his Star #101 rookie. And yes, the auto is a little streaky. But man, this card with red, white, and blue detailing and an early career auto really pops. And you don’t see a ton of them for sale as they start getting locked up in PCs. I’m seeing similar ones in the $18k range at major auction houses.
I love early Star cCompany rookie cards. Beckett always list them as XRC‘s and that’s how they’ll always be known. Stockton wasn’t featured until the 1988-89 Fleer set as a rookie card. I never understood why he was not in the 1986-87 or 1987-88 set. This is a high-grade example of the Star Co. XRC
