Man, I love early Star Co. rookies. This one, especially, stuck out to me. I have been on the market for an Olajuwon Star rookie autograph for some time. When I saw this one with the inscription, “The Dream” I knew I had to have it. I likely overpaid for it, but you don’t see many of these out there, especially in great condition.
Okay, this is my second best Star Co. Jordan card. Yes, this is his second year Star (still an XRC as it is pre-1986 Fleer Jordan “rookie“), and this is still an amazing card! With these red borders, and centering always at a premium, these are very difficult to find in gem mint grade. My best star company Jordan card is one that is autographed, but this is still in the top few cards in my collection.
To continue my posts of early Star Co., Jordan cards, this is from his 1985 Star Co. Gatorade set. Featuring some of basketball‘s best and brightest stars of the 1980s, the electric green border makes this really stand out. These are hard to find well centered in a high grade. This one is beauty!
Yeah, I know it’s been graded by BCCG. I did not send that in for grading, rather, I bought it in this slab. At some point, I will send it in to BGS or PSA. But any early Star Co. card of Jordan in high grade, especially ones featured in a USA Olympic jersey, are super cool.
I love early Star Co. cards with in person autographs. This was graded prior to PSA deciding to grade Star Co. cards. I have the autograph authenticated, but will likely send this back for card grading as well. The colors on this pop. He was called the “human highlight film” - What a cool nickname which captured how graceful and powerful his offensive scoring and dunking ability was.
