Local Tampa artist legend, Jason Skeldon produces fun, bright, pop art. Prints, originals and commission work - it’s been fun to watch his technique and style progress since I bought my first piece in 2013. Now I have 25 or so of his pieces all over work. People love them. Bright. Provocative. Fun. Local.
I don’t see a lot of (art) posted on Mantel yet… But I’ll keep trying! Without getting too political, I feel like this is a great representation of where we are as a society. This beautiful, but simple, origami dove with his tail on fire is so simple yet symbolic. I love how the artist (Opie) used live flame, a technique called fumage, to better capture the smoke rising from the tail of this dove.
In the Caribbean and gulf, although beautiful, Lion fish are an invasive species and destroy reef ecosystems. But the are beautiful, and poisonous, and tasty if you know how to spear them and cook them up! This is an amazing limited screen-print by the fantastic French street artist Ardif.
