This one’s a quiet heavyweight in the Kyattou Ninden Teyandee orbit.
TENKO! is a 1994 art book by Suzuki Noritaka, best known for his work on Kyattou Ninden Teyandee, but this volume is not a Nyanki-only book—and that’s actually part of its charm.
While some material was originally used in the Anniversary Memorial collection, TENKO! contains unique content that never made it into other compilations, making it absolutely worth owning if you’re interested in original-era artwork and creator-side material.
What’s inside:
Original illustrations and layouts spanning multiple series, not just Teyandee.
Early-era Kyattou Ninden Teyandee material, including artwork and concept-era visuals.
Creator commentary, production-era context, and layout choices that feel very “mid-90s doujin-adjacent but professional”.
An end-of-book reader survey, which is always a fascinating time capsule (prices, events, what fans were watching/buying at the time).
Important expectations check:
This book is not dominated by Nyanki content.
If you’re here only for Pizza Cats, this is a supplemental piece, not a centerpiece.
If you enjoy process, era context, and seeing how creators moved between projects, this book shines.
For collectors: this is one of those volumes that quietly fills in gaps. It bridges creator history, shows what didn’t get endlessly reprinted, and gives a broader view of Suzuki Noritaka’s work beyond a single franchise.
Not flashy. Not common. Very worth having.
Release Date: August 15, 1993 (first edition).
Circle/Publisher: グループ601 (Group 601).
Representative: 沖由佳雄 (Oki Yukao).
Event: Almost certainly Comiket 44 (held August 13–15, 1993), which lines up with the print date.
Printer: 集成社 (Shūseisha).
Contributors: Multiple artists and writers. The table of contents shows a mix of short comics, pinups, and gag pieces by various names.
The playful title “Hash, Hash” doesn’t mean much literally — it’s likely a comedic “slapstick sound effect” title, matching the lighthearted tone.
Because it’s a 1993 release, this book came out right after the anime finished airing in Japan (ending Feb. 1991) — meaning it represents the early wave of fan-driven SPC content while the series was still fresh in people’s minds.
Many of the artists here also contributed to other KNT books, like Ball Up and Anniversaly Memorial.
This book contains a small amount of adult content and is not suitable for kids.
Today’s spotlight is on two of the rarer pieces in my collection: Secret of Pizza Cat + Anniversaly Memorial.
These books are being posted together because they’re almost the same.
Secret of Pizza Cat was the first to be released - its a large book of art and stories from several artists. This book contains a fair amount of adult content, so it’s definitely not recommended for children. Despite this, it sold out quickly.
The Anniversaly Memorial was a reprint the best parts of Secret of Pizza Cat, with most of the adult content removed, and a few new pages. The Anninversary Memorial is a collection of 5 small books that are packaged together in a sturdy box, and a bold calligraphic font decorating the spines of the books. Each book is mostly focussed on a specific character or theme.
The Anniversaly Memorial is printed in a fanzine-style layout, and while unofficial, it’s an incredibly charming piece that captures the energy of the era.
