New pickup: Ooyama's Pikachu

Post image 1

I challenge you to find a derpier looking Pikachu...
Kouichi Ooyama's art style has always appealed to me, with that hand-drawn/rough sketch aesthetic. He illustrated several cards for the vending machine series that released in Japan in the late 90s, and this is one of them.
Happy to have this derpy guy in the collection.

Surfing Pika Pickup 🏄‍♀️⚡️

Post image 1

Had a little National FOMO over the weekend and did some online shopping...
First of those orders touched down today. Surfing Pikachu is one of those characters I collect in every form and grade I can, and the deal on this one made it a no-brainer.
Excited to share a few other pickups as they come in 👀

Daniel Arsham is an American artist who creates unique art using themes of decay and erosion. He often works with everyday objects and architectural shapes, transforming them to look as if they are breaking down or have been unearthed from a future world. Arsham uses unusual materials like volcanic ash and crystals to give his artworks an ancient, yet futuristic feel. His style, which he calls 'fictional archaeology,' makes people think about how everything around us changes over time.

Four years ago, The Pokémon Company unveiled its very first artistic collaboration with American artist Daniel Arsham. The project featured a sculptural series called “Relics of Kanto Through Time,” which reimagined beloved Pokémon characters as artifacts from a distant future. Daniel Arsham's vision for the collection portrayed Pokémon as if they had been unearthed a thousand years in the future, bringing a unique, artistic perspective to these iconic figures. Through this collaboration, Pokémon's envisioned future was transformed into a vivid artistic reality, merging the worlds of contemporary art and popular culture.

The Crystalized Seated Pikachu Edition /500 will be Daniel Arshams final release of his collaboration Pokemon series.

It's set to drop on Friday, May 3rd at 12PM ET

A wild new pickup appears! 🏄⚡

Post image 1

I'm always hunting the vast variety of Surfing Pikachu cards out there, and this one has been on my grail list for a while. Saw a good deal and the time was right.
There are a few versions of this print — this stamped edition was awarded to staff who helped oversee the Pokémon Worlds 2010 tournament. I've never been a competitive player, but I appreciate these championship promo cards in the same way I do a concert poster or ticket from a particular show. They're cool mementos that capture a specific moment in time.
Quick pit stop at my house before it heads to the Brink’s vault c/o Courtyard.io.
