1953 Topps #220, Satchel Paige - MLB Pioneer On this day, June 30, 1952, Satchel Paige was named to the A.L. All-Star team. Happy Monday! 🌞 Have a great day friends and card folk! 👊
MLB Pioneer Selection -- Roy Campanella 💥 Roy Campanella is an MLB Pioneer and Legendary Hall of Famer. He debuted with the Washington (later Baltimore) Elite (pronounced EE- Light) at the age of 15 in 1937. He played eight seasons in the Negro Leagues before joining the Dodgers. This is a visual of my Roy Campanella cards in 2023, I've added some since but have not updated my picture. Have a great day!👊
I’ve always wanted to get a vintage in person Paige autograph. But they are pricey and getting more expensive. But these can still be had at a reasonable price. I had one made into a custom cut to satisfy my urge to have it in a regular card size. I love some of the stories and folklore surrounding Paige, Josh Gibson and other Negro League greats.
There are only about 100 baseball players (+/-) who can claim they played in the Negro Leagues and eventually made it to The Show -- I call them MLB Pioneers. This is my PC starting lineup of MLB Pioneers. The background for this visual is Rickwood Field, the oldest existing professional baseball park in the United States and home to the Negro League Birmingham Black Barons.
